13th May 2010 - Even bigger disaster!

Issue 1 of The Trident is still not finished! It turned out to need quite a bit more stuff adding to it than I thought, namely new text for the cover (more Edwardian looking, and drawn by myself), a title block for the first page, an ending block for the last page, one full-page illustration, a "next issue" illustration, a "the editor speaks" block and writing the editor's page, of course. Work has slowed down due to me spending my time on Saturdays giving my friend Natasha some driving practice in the car park at the back of my work :3 oh and also watching Doctor Who then dissecting it on message boards.

I have decided to arrange the text pages in The Trident by printing them out and then scanning them back in. This is how the text pages in issue 3 of the Red, White & Blue were done, which ruined the illustrations! However this time around the text will be scanned in maximum sharpness so that it looks clear and crisp (but can be treated as an image on the page, which makes things a lot easier). The illustrations will then be added to the page afterwards. This means they can be treated separately and thus scanned and processed in a way more suited to pictures rather than text.

The real disaster, though, concerns the UK Webcomix Thing… and the fact there is not going to be any more of them! This was the only convention I was regularly attending, so I need to find another one to start going to for next year. Luckily the ever-helpful Ztoical on the Thing message board came to the rescue. There's a few that sound like a suitable replacement for 2011.

Oh, in the last update I said that after issue 1 of The Trident was done I'd do issue 1 of SCV, Instead I'm going to do issue 1 of The Dragonfly. This is a much more "important" comic with regard to the stories I want to tell.
